Plate Armour
The most advanced and protective armour used in the Middle Ages, plate armour evolved throughout the period. It consists of a series of metal plates that could be attached to each other through various means (often leather straps or buckles were used for this purpose). Often mail or padding would be worn under the various pieces of plate.
